| The Loch Whit Bear "Wee Dram" Scotch Club, established in 1989, is based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota USA. The club puts on an annual extravagant single malt tasting competition event (now in its 15th year) where only the world's finest, rarest, most unique and oft most expensive malts are compared against one another other, dram to dram. Amid an evening of fine dining, lively presentations and special events, each malt entry is analyzed across a matrix sheet of variables and graded from .1 to 10.00. Individual score sheets are collected at evening's end and tablulated using the group average, thus quantitatively achieving a more objective rating, and finally posted on the Club tally sheet. The Loch Whit Bear Club has now rated over 500 malts.
We have been most impressed with several Black Adder Raw Cask bottlings. The 1966 Banff sherry cask offering recently received a 9.21 rating, breaking into the ranks of the "Top 40" malts on the Club tally sheet. The 1980 Blairfindy also received high regards and marks. |
